BERLIN, GERMANY - (Marketwire - June 28, 2012) - Bombardier Transportation today announced that together with New United Group (NU) it has signed a contract with CSR Nanjing Puzhen Rolling Stock Co., Ltd. for the supply of BOMBARDIER MITRAC propulsion and control equipment. Bombardier will supply engineering, manufacturing, testing, commissioning as well as initial spare parts for the propulsion and control system of the new metro trains to be delivered by CSR Nanjing Puzhen Rolling Stock Co., Ltd. to Dongguan Rail Transit Co., Ltd. The total value of the contract is approximately 180 million CNY (23 million euro, $28 million US)(1), with Bombardier's share valued at approximately 102 million CNY(13 million euro, $16 million US)(1). The MITRAC equipment will be delivered from Bombardier Transportation's production facilities in Vasteras, Sweden and Changzhou, The People's Republic of China.
The project marks the first application of MITRAC propulsion and control equipment in a Chinese metro system with an operational speed of 120 km/h. With a total length of 37 km, the R2 Line is the first metro line in the City of Dongguan and is expected to go into service by 2015.
