CHENGDU, China, November 14, 2013/PRNewswire/ - Johnson Controls, a global leader in automotive seating, overhead systems, door and instrument panels and interior electronics, is strengthening its production capability in western China with the opening of a new plant in Chengdu. The company's joint venture subsidiary, Chongqing Yanfeng Johnson Controls Automotive Components Co., Ltd. ("CQYFJC"), launched the plant in Chengdu, which supplies complete seating, headliners, floor console carriers and related services to Volvo to support the automaker's production programs in China.
"Globally, Johnson Controls is one of Volvo's core business partners and strategic suppliers," said Johannes Roters, group vice president and general manager China, Johnson Controls Automotive Experience. "We continuously provide our customers with best-in-class products, technologies and services around the world."
With the launch of Volvo vehicle programs in Chengdu, Johnson Controls is the first major supplier to establish a manufacturing plant and start production in a very short time with construction beginning in November 2012.
Located in the Chengdu Economic & Technological Development Zone, the plant now has 100 employees and focuses on supporting the Volvo Chengdu plant. The first project launched was the Volvo S60L.
As one of Johnson Controls' most important production bases in western China, the CQYFJC Chengdu plant expands Johnson Controls' footprint in the region, and strengthens the company's positioning in the Chinese automotive market.
"Johnson Controls is committed to exceeding our customers' increasing expectations. We continuously improve our capabilities together with our partners to deliver world-class products and services to automakers in China," said Roters. "The new Chengdu plant once again showcases our dedication to the Chinese market, as well as our commitment to our customers and business partners."
