MONTREAL, QUEBEC - (Marketwire - November 16, 2010) - The consortium comprising Bombardier Transportation and Alstom Transport confirmed today it has received the Notice to Proceed from Societe de transport de Montreal (STM) on the supply of 468 metro cars (52 nine-car trainsets).
The contract signature was published on October 22, 2010. With funding approval completed, the contract now enters into force and the final price has been fixed using the applicable exchange rate. The contract is valued at $1.19 billion CDN ($1.18 billion US, 869 million euro). Bombardier's share is $719 million CDN ($715 million US, 525 million euro) and Alstom's share is $471 million CDN ($468 million US, 344 million euro).
The design, manufacture and final assembly of the new Montreal metro cars will be carried out at Bombardier's facilities in La Pocatiere and Saint-Bruno, Quebec. Alstom's sites in Sorel-Tracy and Montreal, Quebec, will also be involved. The first prototype train is to be delivered in June 2013, followed by the base order deliveries that are scheduled to take place between February 2014 and September 2018.
