The Emperor Maximilian Prize 2023 from the Region of Tyrol and the City of Innsbruck is looking for projects across Europe under the motto young-european-united. The projects should serve as examples for young people on how to actively shape their future. The prize will be awarded in autumn 2023, and the winning project will receive an earmarked prize money of 10,000 euros. Tyrol’s Governor Anton Mattle, Innsbruck’s Mayor Georg Willi, City Councillor Christine Oppitz-Plörer and Member of the Tyrolean Regional Government Cornelia Hagele encourage projects from all over Europe to submit their applications.
Online application open until 20 April 2023
Projects and initiatives from all over Europe can be submitted in English until 20 April at emperormaximilianprize.at. This years motto is young-european-united. A special focus is once more put on projects that address young people.
One requirement for a valid application is that projects must be implemented in one or several of the 27 EU member states or in one of the 46 member states of the Council of Europe and the applicants must be a citizen in one of these states.
Additional framework criteria are also to be taken into consideration, such as innovation, inclusivity, as well as being in compliance with the goals of the European Union and the Council of Europe.
The Prize
The Emperor Maximilian Prize is awarded every two years, most recently in October 2021. Projects that promote the spirit of European unity are put into the spotlight. The award-winning-project ist endowed with a earmarked prize money of 10,000 euros, the Emperor Maximilian medal and a certificate. An international jury will determine the winning project in May 2023.
