Zlecone: Flemish Minister-President Peeters to visit Poland on March 7th & 8th 2011

In Warsaw he will have an exchange of views with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Waldemar Pawlak and with Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Marek Sawicki on both EU & bilateral issues. At the conference "Strategies for Modernization in Practice: Flemish and Polish Perspectives" organised by DemosEuropa, Minister-President Peeters will discuss the Flanders 2020 and Poland 2030 strategy with Minister Michał Boni, Member of the Council of Ministers and Chief of the Board of Strategic Advisors to the Prime Minister of Poland. In the evening the Flemish Minister-President will give a lecture "Flanders in Europe – Do we need more or less Europe?" at the Natolin Campus of the College of Europe. The book "Saint Damien of Molokai – a Man who changed the world" published at the initiative of the congregation SSCC with support of the Flemish Government will be presented in the Flemish Representation in the presence of Minister-President Peeters and the Apostolic Nuncio Monsignor Celestino Migliore on Monday afternoon. On Tuesday the Minister-President will meet with Flemish entrepreneurs active in Poland. Later that day he will visit the Port of Gdansk and a Flemish investment in the port. Flanders is the northern Dutch speaking region of Belgium with 6 mln inhabitants. Relations with Poland are good and intensive. A comprehensive framework agreement was signed between the Governments of Poland and Flanders in 1994; the 7th bilateral working program will be negotiated before the summer. Bilateral trade between Poland and Flanders amounts to almost Euro 7 bln.
